At the core of my sharing is a simple, yet powerful idea: the principle of 1% improvement. This concept suggests that if we focus on 1% improvements that over time, we can achieve remarkable results. It’s about making small, consistent changes that compound into significant growth in personal development over time.

Let’s break this down:

The power of compound growth
Imagine improving by just 1% every day for a year. It might not seem like much at first, but thanks to the power of compounding, you’d end up 37 times better by the end of the year! Here’s the math:

1.01*365 = 37.78

This means that if you started at a baseline of 1 and improved by 1% each day for a year, you’d be at 37.78 by the end of the year. That’s an astounding 3,678% improvement!

The flipside: the danger of small negative changes
Conversely, if you decline by 1% each day for a year, you’d end up at 0.03, or 97% worse than when you started. This illustrates how small negative habits can compound over time, leading to significant setbacks.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Is it really possible to keep improving by 1% consistently every day?”. The realistic answer is probably not, at least not in a straight line. We all know that life is full of ups and downs – some days you might improve by 5%, while other days you might slide back 2%. The key for me, has always been to try and focus on the overall trend you want to make and keep moving forward, even if it’s just by tiny increments.
